It is my favourite time of the day.
Late afternoon and almost everybody but us has left their sun beds and headed off to their rooms to get dressed up for dinner. We stay put, enjoying the warmth of the sun, the sparkle of the sea, the lush greenery of the gardens all around us.
I have spent most of the day engrossed in Philippa Gregory's book about the Wars of the Roses - The Kingmaker's Daughter. When the intrigue, the scheming, the treachery and the treason gets too much for me (and that's just Mr B plotting his cribbage strategy)
I dip into the pool and swim long lengths while Mr B orders me a coffee and a Piña Colada. There is nothing like an All Inclusive holiday for the Last of the Big Spenders.
A tiny green lizard streaks across the grass and climbs the palm tree under which we are sitting. His camouflage is quite perfect. He could have taught the Kingmaker - and his daughter - a thing or two about subterfuge....
Daily cribbage score, Mr B - 1; Me- 1
Running total: Mr B - 7; Me - 4
I need to start some dire plotting of my own if I am to draw level...
