Today I have launched my Book Page (please take a look and let me know if you like it!) and I have become a litter picker! This afternoon, with Mr B out playing in an important bowls competition, I decided to
do my bit for the environment and go litter-picking the length and breadth of my road. It must have been the good influence of all those lovely environmental people I used to work with ......
you may like to know that it only took me 45 minutes to walk the mile and a quarter collecting rubbish along the way and I filled two and a half bags weighing 8 lbs in all. Most unusual finds: an old tea-towel and a piece of a bicycle.
Most common finds: empty cans, bottles, drinks cartons - many of them presumably flung from the windows of passing cars. Most depressing finds: well, I didn't touch the eight separate bags of dog poo I came across, all presumably
carefully collected in plastic bags then left in the grass verges - what are people like?! Met a (law-abiding) dog-walking lady who told me I should "send a bill to the Council!" which would rather miss the point.
More excitement! Monday is now wash-day again! Every working wife and mother knows that the weekends mean washing and ironing - and if you happen to dare to go away for the weekend, then it just piles up in your absence.
Ladies - retirement may not release you from the washing - but it gives you CHOICE!
