Jaqui's Daily Blog

Monday 20th August

OK, I had problems yesterday getting connected, down here in Deepest Devon, so my apologies for the lack of a "blog" yesterday.  Can you have a Daily Blog, if you don't blog every day?  Would it have to be the "Once Every Two Days Blog"?

Today I have had a breakthrough.  I have found a room with Wi-Fi connection.   Not in the main house, unfortunately, where I could have sat and blogged in comfort - but in a sort of strange store-room-cum-sports-room, opposite the indoor swimming pool.  So here I am, sitting in a room with a table tennis table (with bats and a ball), a pool table (with no balls), a very large fridge with a half-consumed Jubilee cake inside, an industrial-size washing machine (not plugged in), a large box of Pampers disposable nappies, an untuned piano and a very uncomfortable two-seater settee on which I am currently perched with the Youngest of the Darling Daughters.  She is checking out Llama Walks on Dartmoor while I blog.

I did intend to ask a guest blogger to join me but the only one who wasn't gainfully employed doing something far more interesting was one of the sons-in-law and he had an evil glint in his eye at the very thought of being let loose on my blog.  I have to think about my readers, you know, so I sneaked off when he wasn't looking.

Oh, yes, and we are having a lovely time, thank you!  Yesterday we took over a large expanse of sand at Bigbury-on-Sea.  We were planning to enter a sandcastle competition run by the RNLI - our plan was to build an Olympic Stadium.  However it was all too much like hard work, after all, we are on holiday.  Today we were at Woodlands Pleasure Park, which Mr B insists on calling Timberlands.  I went on a tractor ride (we got stuck), got lost (most unhelpful site map, I'm sure it wasn't just my sense of direction) and fell in love with the baby meerkats.

As the picture accompanying today's blog says, I am beginning each day with a grateful heart.  It's not difficult....

This wonderful blog has summed up the true meaning of A Christmas Day. Once the dread of a restricted day had sunk in, other ways were invented. Thank you
