Jaqui's Daily Blog

Friday 24th August

I am so sorry to have neglected you so badly, loyal readers of my Daily Blog!

But now I am home, from Deepest Devon, after a 7 hour drive and a truly wonderful Family Holiday so normal service can be resumed.  Seven hours is, indeed, a very long time to be on the road.  It's a good thing we had happy memories to sustain us on that seemingly never-ending journey.  Here are just a few of them:

Baby Morgan's first "swim".  Jack, Eleanor and Hazel tackling the High Ropes at Dartmoor Country Park - I was almost in tears watching Hazel, encouraged by Elle, overcome her fears. (Jack, on the other hand, swung through every challenge like a sure-footed monkey.) Evening meals around a table long enough to seat us all - each family took turns to cook and every meal was voted "amazing" by young and old alike. Sam and James playing pirates on the beach at Bigbury-on-Sea, ably assisted by another Sam, son of the lovely Jan who joined us for the day.  Son-in-law Massi putting all the kids through their paces in the swimming pool (I came third in the walking backwards race....)

Oh, and there's so much more!  But it's getting late and I am about to fall into a large glass of red wine.  More from me tomorrow!

I too went to school in Kent where my Aunt worked as a dinner-lady. I got seconds sometimes thirds of my favourite pud, the said Gipsy Tart. My son’s a dentist!
